Over the course of a year, I participated in field experiences providing art therapy services to a diverse adult inpatient psychiatric population. The setting provided me with a variety of treatment services for acute psychiatric disorders and dual-diagnosis clients through expressive arts therapies, substance abuse counseling, recreation therapy, horticulture therapy, and peer support programs. Under the supervision of a doctorate-level, licensed mental health practitioner, I collaborated with music therapists, adjunctive therapists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, and other treatment team members. I engaged in direct and indirect client contact from facilitating group art therapy, to medical documentation and session planning.
